1/16/2024 0 Comments Utopia tx to san antonio![]() ![]() They have 3 children: Daniel, (daughter-in-law Jill, grandchildren Victoria and Jaclyn) of Evergreen, Colorado Kathryn (son-in-law Timothy, grandchildren Kristina, Nicole, Timothy Jr., Amalie, and Cody) of Arvada, Colorado and Paul (daughter-in-law Stephanie) of Honokaa, Hawaii. Harvey married Carolyn on the Winter Solstice, December 21, 1963, in Commerce City, Colorado. During a long and storied career, he served as a law enforcement officer and game warden in Summit County helped reintroduce moose back into the San Juan Mountains relocated Desert Bighorn Sheep seeded high alpine lakes with trout fry on foot and by helicopter ultimately retiring as the Assistant Regional Manager for Colorado’s Southwest Region in 1996. Harvey worked for the Colorado Division of Wildlife for 32 years. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Colorado State University in 1963, and returned to CSU to earn his Master’s degree in Wildlife Management in 1972. He was born in Houston, Texas and moved to Sabinal, Texas in the third grade where he later graduated high school. Harvey was the second of five children born to Harold and Inez Donoho. He was a judge for the annual Colorado Trapper’s Rendezvous and won the Colorado Wildlife Trapper of the Year. ![]() He taught hunter safety education programs in Frisco and Erie, Colorado served as a Boy Scouts of America troop leader in Fort Collins, Colorado as a docent with the Sabinal Canyon Museum and was an organizer of the Utopia Sesquicentennial celebration. He was a member of the Elks Lodge of Montrose, Colorado the Lion’s Club of Utopia, Texas the Boulder Ridge Estates Community Association and the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary in Montrose, Colorado. Harvey was always very active in the communities where he lived. Carolyn Campbell Donoho, his wife of 59 years, was by his side.ĭuring a long and adventurous life, Harvey built two cabins by hand, felling the trees and hewing the logs was an environmentalist who created game preserves and protected river watersheds was an avid animal lover, who marveled at historic methods for hunting and fishing and believed in using every part of an animal a river rat who rafted more than 3,000 miles, including an 18-day trip on the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon a proud Papa who cheered his grandchildren’s athletic and academic achievements a lifelong historian and the first person anyone would call if they ever needed anything fixed, or wanted to know the name, dietary habits, or mating rituals of any animal. ![]() It is with great sadness that we mourn the peaceful passing of Harvey Searcy Donoho on June 30, 2023, at the cabin he built in Boulder Ridge Estates near Tie Siding, Wyoming. ![]()
